After the economic setbacks suffered by its industry against Japan in the decades following the Second World War, the American Empire decided to counterattack. In 1991, the CIA commissioned a report soberly titled Japan 2000<\/em> from a panel of experts such as MITI academic specialist Chalmers Johnson, Robert Mac Farlane, former assistant to President Reagan at the National Security Council, and Tim Stone, Motorola’s Global Intelligence Director, Vice President of the company, and former scientific and technological intelligence specialist within the CIA. Although it concludes by denouncing the antinomy that exists between Japanese economic culture and that of the West (and particularly the United States), it nevertheless highlights the fact that Japan built its superiority on information and knowledge acquisition, and that this is a logic to be imitated.
