In a world beset by multiple crises \u2013 characterised by unprecedented technological competition, ever-greater interdependence, increasingly sophisticated threats and ever-more intense destabilisation of the rule of law \u2013 the security of organisations, whether private or public, is becoming a key asset underpinning their long-term viability. At the heart of their sustainability lies their capacity for innovation, the source of all value creation. <\/p>\n

In this context, which is shifting from competition to predation, how can we most effectively protect ourselves against the risks threatening the national and European research and innovation ecosystem, founded on the values of openness, integrity, and freedom of research?<\/p>\n

How can we sustainably structure public-private dialogue on these issues in order to collectively and sustainably regain the capacity for action in the service of our European and national strategic autonomy?<\/p>\n

The ambition of the Observatory for Research Security and Integrity \u2013 bringing together more than twenty research organisations \u2013 is to develop, drawing on practices and proposals from the research community, the ways and means to ensure not only the autonomy of research and its capacity for innovation, but also its protection through precautionary measures, so that sharing is a choice and not the result of theft, exploitation or error.<\/p>\n
