In 2024, the word “offensive” is beginning to be heard again in relation to information warfare. It would appear that the French Presidency has had enough of enduring repeated Russian destabilization operations against our military forces as well as against civil society structures on mainland France. To avoid repeating past mistakes, it is important to examine the political approach to the challenges of this information warfare. In this regard, the lessons to be drawn from the Indochina War and the Algerian War are fundamental in order not to perpetuate the same errors, as demonstrated by the outcome of the revolutionary warfare doctrine debated within the French army during the 1950s.
