The interwar period is crucial for understanding how a poor perception of international antagonisms can lead to a strategic catastrophe. This was, unfortunately, the case for France. It is necessary to revisit what can be considered a true tragedy, as political and business leaders erred in identifying the main enemy and masked their choice with superficial rhetoric that muddied the waters and prevented any relevance in the implementation of a useful and effective power politics for the defense of our country. No pertinent information warfare strategy can be conceived from such a collective error by the French elites. The inability to concentrate our forces against the main threat, namely Nazi Germany, led to our collapse in June 1940. This lesson must be remembered to address the complexity of the current period and avoid a potential repetition of past mistakes.
