Russia is currently presented as a country at the forefront of information warfare. This was not always the case, especially when it found itself in a difficult position. This podcast analyzes three situations where the USSR had to confront its contradictions while attempting to conduct defensive psychological warfare operations: the struggle against the negative effects of the German-Soviet Pact, the fight against a form of military dissidence symbolized by the Vlasov Army, and the effort to establish itself in Germany at the end of the Third Reich. The lessons to be drawn from these three situations remain relevant today, given Russia’s handicap, perceived by part of the world as an aggressor country in Ukraine and thus the origin of the military conflict raging there.
